Jeff Lange Real EstateThe town of Alden, Kansas is nestled in to the southwestern corner of Rice County. The town has a population of 168 people and was founded in 1878 as stop for the Santa Fe Railroad. The old Train Station, now a museum, serves as a remembrance of all the passengers that traveled on the 16 Santa Fe trains in and out of the station, before it stopped passenger service in 1965. Cheney Lake is just an hour south of Alden. Cheney Lake consists of 9,600 acres of surface water and the State Park consists of 1,913 acres. The area consists of great features like camping areas, boat ramps, shelters, nature trails and modern cabins. K-12 district, USD 376, hosts a High School, Junior High School, and Grade School. Sterling College, just 15 minutes away, is one of the local colleges. Hutchinson, 30 minutes away is another local college.
