Canton, located in McPherson County, has a population of 829 people. The small city was founded in 1879 in central Kansas. The school district is the Canton - Galva USD 419, it shares its district with Galva, it's neighbor to the east. The district consists of the Canton-Galva Elementary School, the Canton-Galva Middle School, and the Canton-Galva High School. The school offers a great athletic department, football, volleyball, cross country, cheerleading, girls and boys basketball, softball, baseball, and track. The high school also offers a lot of different clubs and organizations like, NHS, Chess Club, Student Council, FCA, and much more.
Canton is home to the last Carnegie Library build in Kansas, was built in 1921, and is still standing in good condition. 6 miles north of Canton is over 2,200 acres of prairie habitat called the Maxwell Wildlife Refuge. Tram rides to view the wild life are available and are great for all sorts of events and organizations.
Canton is famous for their HOT and COLD water towers.
Hosts annual events like the McPherson County fair in the 3rd week of July.
Canton is 15 minutes away from Hillsboro, which is home to Tabor College.
