Founded in 1869, Cassoday is a small town in northern Butler County. It is the self-proclaimed Prairie Chick capitol of the world. Being located in the Flint Hills with rich soil and large pasture space, large shipments of cattle are shipped to Cassoday for the wonderful grasslands. Cassoday is home of the Cassoday Historical Museum and the Cassoday Bike Run. The Cassoday Bike run is the 1st Sunday of every month from March - November. The local School district is USD 492 and consists of the Elementary, Middle, and High School.
Just 15 miles south of town is El Dorado Lake and State park. It is Kansas' largest state park, being 8,000 acres of lake and four separate park areas that cover 4,000 acres.
