Florence, a small community in Marion County, was founded in 1870 and has a population of around 640 people. This small town has many attractions and many businesses that make it a small town lifestyle with easy living on the side.
Florence is the home to 4 parks that have playground equipment and a covered picnic area. There is also a swimming pool, baseball diamond, post office, and library. Florence also has interesting attractions. These include the water tower built in 1887 and the 99.96% pure spring water that pours out of springs in the city. There is the Harvey House Museum and 2 restaurants and a general store.
Florence hosts the annual Spring Fling, a Labor Day celebration, and the Tour de Florence which is a 40 mile bike ride through the Flint Hills.
