Hutchinson, the Reno County seat, has the motto “Come Share Our Space.”  This is quite appropriate for Hutchinson due to the fact that it has many attractions that will draw in people of all ages.  Hutchinson takes great pride in being the home for two of the 8 Wonders of Kansas.  One of them is the Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center.  This was voted one of the 8 Wonders of Kansas and has a museum of space memorabilia, an IMAX Theater, gift shop, and many other educational facilities.  The Kansas Underground Museum is also one of the 8 Wonders of Kansas.  This museum displays the very old salt deposits 650 feet under the earth’s surface. 

Hutchinson also has a great newly renovated downtown.  It has restaurants of American food, Italian, Mexican, BBQ, and gourmet cuisine.  It also is home to the Reno County Museum, Farmer’s Market, numerous parks, the historic Fox Theatre, Memorial Hall, and the Flag Theater for family and children.  There is also the Dillon Nature Center with a 10,000 square foot building for learning with trails, habitats, a pond for fishing, and wildlife outside.  Carey Park is also in Hutchinson.  This has many sections for playground equipment for children, along with the Hutchinson Zoo, Carey Park Golf Course, and Salt City Splash the aquatic center. 

There are three very famous attractions in Hutchinson, Kansas.  There is the Hutchinson Community College Sports Arena.  It is home to the Annual NJCAA Basketball Tournament.  This arena can hold up to 7500 people.  Hutchinson also has the Prairie Dunes Country Club and Golf Course.  This was home to the 2006 U.S. Senior Open along with the U.S. Women’s Open in 2002.  This is a nationwide known about course with great ratings.  Hutchinson also hosts the Kansas State Fair.  This attracts 350,000 people from all the counties in the state of Kansas.  It has over 1,000 commercial exhibit locations and entertainment each night at the grandstand.  There is livestock competition, carnival rides and games, and lots of food.  It is great fun for all ages.
