Kingman, a city built on both sides of the Ninnescah River, is the Kingman County seat.  It has a population of 3,400 people and was settled in the 1870’s for $1.25 per acre.  Kingman has a rich history and has many historic buildings, a museum, unique gift and antique shops, a historic downtown theatre, and the Santa Fe Depot.  Kingman is conveniently located on Highway 54, a well-used east/west highway in Kansas, and is only 35 miles from Pratt, Hutchinson, and Wichita.  Kingman is the host to many activities such as the FFA Kansas High School Rodeo, the July 4th Celebration, the Kingman County Fair, and the Lighted Christmas Parade.
Kingman has so many attractions and events for its residents.  These include Riverside Park and the Activity Center that hosts rodeos and horse events and also horse and mule sales.  Kingman also has 14 churches, 10 restuarants, the Citizens Bank of Kansas, the Bank of the West, and KANZA Bank.  This allows for choices in all areas of living.  There are many options for healthcare as well which includes the Kingman Community Hospital.  These healthcare options also include great opportunities for employment.  Farming is another large economic booster, but Kingman is also home to six large industries. 
Kingman has a variety of activities for those residents of the city or those visiting.  There are five apartment complexes for housing, along with two bed and breakfasts and two motels that provide nice accommodations for those traveling.  There are three camping sites, many clubs and organizations, arts and theatre, bowling, golf, lakes, fishing, outdoors, wildlife, four parks, a swimming pool, volleyball courts, tennis courts, and basketball courts.  These activities will keep people of all ages busy!
