Jeff Lange Real EstateMaize, a community just northwest of Wichita, KS, was established in 1870. The 2006 population was 2,500, with the school district employing over 720 persons. Maize takes great pride in their school district. It currently has 8 schools for kids ranging from Prekindergarten to 12th grade. Maize’s school district was recently stated as the 12th largest school district in the state. 6200 kids come from around the community to attend this great school system.
Maize has grown rapidly in the past few years and predicting more growth as well. This has forced the community to analyze their commercial aspects of the city. There are great industrial locations, but new industrial parks are in the works as well as new commercial developments such as downtown. Maize is also continuing to develop their housing market. They are building several new apartment complexes and subdivisions. Maize also has many existing businesses in the city limits along with many clubs including the Maize Recreation Commission, Maize PTO, Boy Scouts, and the Maize Merchant’s Association.
There are special attractions in Maize as well. It is home to the Arbor Day Celebration which includes the planting of trees all around the city. They also have a great 4th of July Celebration that includes fireworks that last for approximately 45 minutes! The Fall Festival happens every year and includes a parade, talentfest, dance, and carnival rides. It is also home to four churches.
