Mount Hope, a community located on K-96 in Sedgwick County was established in 1887. The 2006 population was 853 people. Mount Hope is conveniently located 18 miles northwest of Wichita, and 18 miles southeast of Hutchinson. This allows for many jobs within the surrounding cities.
Mount Hope also has many activities for those living in and around the community. Every year is the Prairie Festival which has a parade, car show, dance, barbeque, auction, pedal tractor pull, and many other events. The activities range from Boy and Girl Scouts and Little League to the American Legion Post, Masonic Lodge, and the Senior Center for the more mature crowd. There is also a swimming pool, library, elementary school, nursing home, post office, 1st National Bank, Farmer’s Coop, and 2 churches: the Mount Hope United Methodist Church and the Mount Hope Federated Church.
